DISW Competition Information
2026 will be is our 15th year in operation, and we are very excited to celebrate and explore dance pathways with all our students who decide to attend. Please be assured that any need to know "official" information regarding DISW, will be sent via this email address only. DISW qualified staff will be continuing to run the Competition Team in 2026, with some optional opportunities in discussion, work in progress!
Competitive students are reminded that competition classes involve commitment, consistency, and hard work. Dancers are expected to show dedication, a genuine passion for dance, and a strong desire for self-improvement. Students should accept and apply corrections from teachers with a positive attitude and a willingness to grow.
At our studio, we are proud of the friendly, supportive, and low-stress environment we provide. However, by choosing to join the Competitive Team, students agree to hold themselves to a higher standard. This includes pushing themselves to their personal best, maintaining a respectful attitude, and supporting their teammates at all times. Competitive dancers are also expected to set a good example during all dance events—both in class and at competitions—through their behaviour, sportsmanship, and work ethic.
Please note that competition work is more rigorous than our regular classes and is conducted in a much more structured environment. While it can be highly rewarding, it is not the right path for every student. We encourage dancers and families to carefully consider whether this level of commitment aligns with their goals and readiness.
